School Quiz 2011

On Saturday 5th of  February Duleek Credit Union held its much anticipated annual school’s quiz. Once again the quiz attracted a great turnout in which 40 students representing 6 national schools from the locality competed.

The competition was broken into two categories A & B representing two different age groups. The man in the hot seat posing the questions was Ciaran Ryan and the eventual winners of the two categories came from Duleek Boys and Mt Hanover National Schools.

Winners of the Category A  were Mt Hanover National School and representing their team was Caoimhe O’Sullivan, Grainne Reilly, Desmond Dunne, James McWeeney.

The runners up Category A  were Bellewstown National School. Aaron Dillon, Scott McDarby, Chloe Gibson, James Ludlow.

Winners of the Category B were Duleek Boys were   Martynas Mickevicius, Aidan Agnew, Jack Beggy, Cian Kelly.

 

The runners up Category B were My Hanover National School.  Jessica McNally, Finbarr Conlon, Cian Cunningham, Sean Maguire.

All winners including the runners up were rewarded with assorted plaques to commemorate their achievements as well as Eason Vouchers.

The Credit Unions quiz is unique in that over 20,000 children under the

age of thirteen, representing 32 counties and over 300 Credit Union's

nationwide take part. This is the 20th  successive year that the Irish

League of Credit Unions has run the quiz, which continues to grow in

strength and popularity each year.

The quiz is unique in that Credit Unions from all 32 counties on the

Island, participate, making the Credit Union Annual Schools Quiz a truly nationwide event.

The winners of last Saturday's event will go on to represent Duleek and surrounding District at Chapter Level in the regional finals, which will be held on the 4th March AT 7.30pm in the College of Further Education, The Twenties, Drogheda, and they will hopefully progress even further to represent Duleek in the national final.

The Credit Union would like to express its sincere thanks to all those who sacrificed their Saturday afternoon to lend their assistance to such an important occasion

on the Credit Union calendar.

We would like to pay particular thanks to Duleek Girls School for providing the venue. Thanks also goes to Chairman of the Credit Union, Ciaran Ryan, who did such a

fine job once again this year as quizmaster, and a special word of thanks to the following volunteers who attended on the afternoon to lend their support,

This year's competition was organised by the Credit Union Youth Education Committee, who's tireless efforts ensured a marvellous day was had by all those who participated capitulating the whole essence of the competition and ensuring its continued growth and success.

Finally the Credit Union would like to thank the pupils, parents, teachers and principals of the following schools for helping the Credit Union make last Saturday such a fantastic and worthwhile day. Duleek Boys  National School, Duleek Girls National School, Ardcath National School, Mt Hanover National School, Bellewstown National School,   Cushinstown National School.

Christmas Penny Bank

Our members will be able to spread the cost of Christmas across the whole year and relieve the annual stress of making ends meet. We hope to reduce the need for Credit Card debt and avoid the high interest paid to Loan sharks at this festive time. Each member will have their own saving card which will show their balance, no withdrawals will be possible before last week in November. We will begin taking payments on the 1st of December for Christmas 2010.

Members Draw

Our Members Draw will start on the 1st of January any member interested in joining will receive an entry form with their AGM notice. The draw will cost €2 per week and all funds received be given back to our members. We will have a draw every 13 weeks starting on the first week in April,
